Fidel's background in the exercise sciences are derived from his degrees in Exercise Physiology from Midwestern State University as well as a Master's of Science in Acupuncture from Southwest Acupuncture College in Boulder, Colorado. His focus in injury prevention is fueled by his lifelong passion and involvement in cycling. Fidel started riding his bicycle with his dad at age 7, at age 13 he competed in his first mountain bike race, that was when he started developing an affinity for cycling. After participating at several nationally ranked road and mountain bike events in his home-country of Mexico as a junior, at age 18 he competed in his first professional road stage race in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Not long after, he received a scholarship offer to race and study at Midwestern State University in Texas, one of the top-ranked Division 1 cycling colleges of the United States. While there he raced road and track and graduated from with a Bachelors of Science in Exercise Physiology ('12). Fidel is a native Spanish speaker.
